Holbrook Golfers Take Second In Recent MatchMarch 19th, 2008
By Greg Perkins Playing in Silver Creek March 12, the Holbrook golf team finished between first place Blue Ridge and third place Payson, shooting a team total of 206 in the three-team, nine-hole competition. Leading the Roadrunners once again was Qualya Skevington, who carded a 44 over the difficult course. Ben Rishel shot 52, while AJ Larson and Ryan Best posted scores of 55. Kordell Curley shot a 61. Gareth Trainer of Blue Ridge shot the low round of the day with a 41. Cody Waterman of Payson was second with a 43, followed by Skevington and Blue Ridge’s Josh Porter with 44s. Blue Ridge’s team total was 177, while Payson posted a 210. In the junior varsity match, Blue Ridge again led the way with a total of 185. Payson shot a combined 267 and Holbrook placed third with 272. Scoring for the Roadrunners were Connor Hager with a 60, Cody Hanley, 61, Randall Justman, 73, Luke Bowman, 78, and Monte Pete, 79. The golfers will take to the course today (March 19) at Snowflake for another three-team, nine-hole conference match. Following some time off for spring break, they will return to the links on Thursday, April 3, as they host Winslow in a dual meet at Hidden Cove.
