Lobos Take Second At Safford Meet

    Facing 21 other schools at the highly competitive Safford Invitational, the Snowflake Lobos staked their claim as one of the top teams in the state with the boys’ team placing second and the girls’ team finishing in fifth place.
    Safford won the boys’ team title with 142 points, followed by Snowflake with 95, Sahuarita with 48, Thatcher with 47 and Show Low with 44.  
    In the girls’ division it was Morenci on top with 89 points, followed by Benson with 85, Safford with 79, Fountain Hills with 50 and Snowflake with 48.
    Individual results for the Snowflake boys follow.
    In the 100 meter dash, Matt Reidhead placed first with a time of 11.04; Jesse Diaz, 10th in 11.83; and Jacob Juarez, 25th in 12.24.  
    In the 200 meter dash, Matt Reidhead placed second in 22.64; Jesse Diaz, 22nd in 24.81; and Jacob Juarez, 24th in 24.88.
    In the 400 meter dash, Justin Ford placed 25th in 57.85; Kyle Lunt, 26th in 57.87; and Cody Gillespie, 28th in 59.37.
    In the 800 meter run, Cody Wells placed first with a time of 2:05; James McDowell, second in 2:13; and Michael Bishop, 21st in 2:22.
    In the 1600 meter run, Cody Wells placed second with a time of 4:36; Rolley Burton, 35th in 5:42; and Andy Chesley, 43rd in 6:25.
    In the 3200 meter run, Cody Wells placed first with a time of 10:26; Rolley Burton, 22nd in 12:14; and Andy Chesley, 27th in 14:18.
    In the 300 meter hurdles, Jeff Sanderson placed fourth with a time of 42.76; Matt Bloomfield, 11th in 45.03; and Jacob Rawlins, 13th in 46.28.
    In the 110 meter hurdles, Jacob Rawlins placed ninth with a time of 17.36; Sanderson, 11th in 17.58; and Bloomfield, 15th in 18.34.
    The boys’ teams placed 10th in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47.00, second in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:34 and 10th in the 4x800 meter relay in 9:55.
    Jeff Sanderson placed third in the high jump with 6’2”; and Michael Bishop, seventh with 5’8”.
    In the long jump, Michael Bishop placed 14th with a distance of 17’3.5”; and Jesse Diaz, 24th with 16’3”.  
    In the triple jump, Matt Reidhead and Jacob Rawlins tied for eighth with a distance of 37’3”; and Mi-chael Bishop, 13th with 35’6”.  
    In the shot put, Jordan Hunt placed sixth with a toss of 41’11”; A.J. Rodriguez, seventh with 41’4”; and Jason McCray, 21st with 37’8”.  
    In the discus, A.J. Rodriguez placed third with a throw of 129’11”; Steven Hutchins, 23rd with 93’2”; and Jordan Hunt, 33rd with 82’8”.
    In the pole vault, Damian Scott placed first; and Justin Ford, seventh.

    In the 100 meter dash, Tessa Allen placed 13th with a time of 14.05; Hillary Gutvik, 22nd in 14.35; and Tiffany Richards, 27th in 14.54.
    In the 200 meter dash, Tessa Allen placed 10th with a time of 28.87; Samarah Houser, 11th in 28.89; and Katherine Dutcher, 23rd in 30.21.  
    In the 400 meter dash, Gutvik placed 12th with a time of 1:08; Claudia Schuermann, 17th in 1:11; and Katherine Dutcher, 22nd in 1:12.
    In the 800 meter dash, Natasha Spader placed 23rd with a time of 2:57.  
    In the 1600 meter run, Laura Boone placed 16th with a time of 6:26; and Natasha Spader, 24th in 6:35.
     In the 3200 meter run, Laura Boone placed 16th with a time of 14:21.  
    In the 300 meter hurdles, Arona Spader placed first with a time of 46.40; Samarah Houser, ninth in 54.06; and Brook Smith, 17th in 57.90.  
    In the 100 meter hurdles, Arona Spader took first place with a time of 15.11; Tiffany Richards, fourth in 17.55; and Tessa Allen, seventh in 19.09.
    The Lady Lobos placed eighth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 56.31, first in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:17 and eighth in the 4x800 meter relay in 11:41.
    Arona Spader picked up her third first place of the day with high jump of 5’.  
    In the long jump, Claudia Schuermann placed seventh with a leap of 14’8”; and Kelsey Livingston, 14th with 13’3”.  
    In the triple jump, Hailey Hatch placed eighth with a distance of 29’2”; Kelsey Livingston, ninth with 28’2”; and Brook Smith, 13th with 26’.
    In the shot put, Hailey Hatch placed 12th with a toss of 27’6”; and Vilde Braa, 23rd with 23’8”.
    In the discus Vilde Braa placed 31st with a distance of 56’5”.
    The track teams will host the Snowflake Co-Ed Relays today (April 9), then compete at the Blue Ridge Invitational on Friday, April 11, in Lakeside.
