HHS Track Teams Compete In Winslow Invitational MeetApril 30th, 2008
By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s track teams competed in their last invitational meet of the season last Friday at Winslow as they made their final preparations for the 3A North regional meet, which will be held on Saturday, May 3, at Monument Valley. In the Winslow meet the Roadrunners were a little shorthanded with some athletes missing, as the boys’ team placed 17th and the girls’ team finished in 18th place. Blue Ridge won both divisions. Individual results for the Holbrook girls follow. In the 100 meter dash, Tess McGee placed 33rd with a time of 15.02; and Megan Newton-Pender, 42nd in 16.24. In the 200 meter dash, Danielle Tapaha placed 21st in a time of 29.65; Kalei Long, 32nd in 30.79; and Tess McGee, 40th in 31.85. In the 400 meter dash, ReAnna Chee placed 31st with a time of 1:13. In the 800 meter run, ReAnna Chee placed 11th with a time of 2:41. In the 1600 meter run, Andrell Williams placed 21st with a time of 7:05. In the 300 meter hurdles, Danielle Tapaha placed 13th with a time of 54.65. In the long jump, Kalei Long placed 19th with a distance of 12’. In the shot put, Chelsea John placed second with a distance of 32’4”; and Jamie Mendell, 11th with 27’4”. Individual results for the Holbrook boys follow. In the 100 meter dash, Mathew Irwin placed 25th with a time of 12.62; and Nolvin John, 44th in 14.34. In the 200 meter dash, Medorick Graham placed 28th with a time of 27.43; and Zachary Halwood, 34th in 29.38. In the 400 meter dash, Ryan Williams was 37th in 1:00; Medorick Graham, 40th in 1:01; and Josh Hatch, 41st in 1:01.7. In the 800 meter run, Medorick Graham placed 25th with a time of 2:27. In the 1600 meter run, Nolvin John placed 25th with a time of 5:36. In the 3200 meter run, Nolvin John finished 20th with a time of 12:00. In the 300 meter hurdles, Rex Self placed fifth with a time of 42.91; McKay Tenney, 10th in 44.32; and Mathew Irwin, 35th in 49.18. In the 110 meter hurdles, Rex Self was eighth with a time of 17.00; McKay Tenney, 11th in 17.31; and Ryan Williams, 16th in 18.63. In the high jump, Rex Self placed seventh, clearing 6’; and McKay Tenney, 21st with 5’2”. In the triple jump, Ryan Williams placed 24th with a distance of 31’3”. Both squads will be hoping to send several athletes to the 3A state meet with solid performances as this week’s 3A North Regional. Individuals qualifying in the top four in their respective events will earn a trip to the 3A state track meet, slated on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, in Mesa.
