SHS Lobos Win Title At Northland ClassicMarch 12th, 2009
By Greg Perkins Snowflake started the track season on a promising note as the Lobos claimed the team title at the Northland Prep Academy Indoor Classic held at Northern Arizona University last Monday. The Lady Lobos also fared well, placing fourth overall. The Lobos won the meet with 102 points. Blue Ridge placed second with 54 and Show Low was third with 49. Cody Wells started things off well for the Lobos, winning the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:38. Miquel Dominquez placed 23rd with a time of 5:31. In the 400 meter run, Hunter Peterson placed fourth with a time of 54.92; Chad Aldenzee, fifth in 56.12; and Brit Smith, 15th in 58.87. In the 60 meter hurdles, Jeff Sanderson placed fourth with a time of 8.86; Jacob Rawlins, fifth in 9.02; and Casey Cole, 16th in 10.84. In the 60 meter dash, Matt Reidhead placed first with a time of 6.99; Jacob Juarez, eighth in 7.54; and Brit Smith, 19th in 7.87. In the 800 meter run, Cody Wells placed first with a time of 2:00; Jon Merrill, 26th in 2:27; and Miquel Dominquez, 38th in 2:36. In the 200 meter run, Kyle Lunt placed sixth with a time of 24.39; Cody Gillepsie, 12th in 24.85; and Jacob Juarez, 13th in 24.92. In the 3200 meter run, Cody Wells placed second with a time of 10:33; Rolley Burton, 15th in 12:26; and Jon Merrill, 21st in 12:46. The Lobos’ 4x400 relay team placed first with a time of 3:29. In the high jump, Jeff Sanderson placed third with a jump of 6’0”; Michael Bishop, fourth with 6’0”; and Conor Harnell, eighth with 5’6”. In the pole vault, Damian Scott placed first with a height of 13’0”; Justin Ford, seventh with 10’6”; and Casey Cole, 11th with 9’0”. In the long jump, James McDowell placed third with a distance of 18’11”; Chad Aldenzee, sixth with 18’4”; and Damian Scott, eighth with 18’1”. In the triple jump, Jacob Rawlins placed second with a distance of 40’10”; Michael Bishop, sixth with 38’4”; and Landon Shumway, ninth with 37’9”. In the shot put, Jordan Hunt placed fourth with a toss of 43’4”; Jason McCray, sixth with 42’1”; and Nick Alcantar, 12th with 38’0”. Blue Ridge won the girls’ team title with 103 points, followed by Show Low with 57.40, Chino Valley, 54, and Snowflake, 34.8. In the 1600 meter run, Michelle Boone placed 16th with a time of 6:38. In the 400 meter run, Faythe Duran placed fifth with a time of 1:08; Ty Craum, sixth, also in 1:08; and Alisha Flake, ninth in 1:09. In the 60 meter hurdles, Tiffany Richards placed fourth with a time of 10.89; Brooke Smith, seventh in 11.38; and Samarah Houser ninth in 11.73. In the 60 meter dash, Faythe Duran was 11th in 9.07; Emery Martindale, 14th in 9.15; and Tiffany Richards, 20th in 9.34. In the 800 meter run, Alisha Flake was eighth with a time of 2:47; Ty Craum, 14th in 2:57; and Brooke Smith, 17th in 3:02. In the 200 meter run, Samara Houser placed fifth with a time of 29.59; Emery Martindale, 14th in 31.00; and Sherika Peterson, 16th in 31.19. In the 3000 meter run, Michelle Boone placed 10th with a time of 14:14. The girls’ 4x400 relay team placed third with a time of 4:46. In the high jump, Kim Johnson placed first with a height of 4’11”; and Carli Stratton and Hailey Hatch tied for fourth with 4’4”. In the long jump, Kelsey Livingston placed fifth with a distance of 13’9”; Kim Johnson, sixth with 13’8”; and Carli Stratton, 13th with 12’10”. In the triple jump, Hailey Hatch placed third with a jump of 29’1”; Kelsey Livingston, seventh with 28’2”; and Sarah Cole, 13th with 25’2”. In the shot put, Hailey Hatch placed 12th with a toss of 25’5”; Kaylee Turley, 14th with 23’10”; and Celeste Silva, 31st with 20’0”.
