Lady Birds Lose To Lady YellowjacketsMarch 17th, 2009
By Greg Perkins The Lady Roadrunners have played some very close games early in this season, with a couple of one-run losses. Tuesday afternoon's match-up with Blue Ridge appeared to be headed in the direction of another good one, at least through the first three innings. Holbrook started the game out playing well with good pitching and some aggressive hitting. However, some base running mistakes snowballed into some defensive miscues and the Lady Birds found themselves on the wrong end of a 10-0 final after six innings of work. They are still looking for their first win of the season, which they hope to pick up at the River Valley Tournament this weekend, where they will play four games in two days. On Tuesday they will travel to Eagar to face the Round Valley Lady Elks in a non-league game, then next weekend they will be busy at the Winslow Invitational. Following that they will have some time off for spring break and will resume action on Tuesday, March 31, with a road trip to Snowflake.
