Lobos Cruise To Victory At Regional Golf TourneyMay 13th, 2009
By Greg Perkins The Snowflake Lobos have been the best golf team in the East/North region throughout the year, so it came as no surprise that they easily won the regional tournament played May 4 and 5. The Lobos came in with a two-day total of 596 over the 36-hole event. Payson placed second with 680, followed by Blue Ridge with 694 and Holbrook placed with 713, earning them all a trip to the state meet. Show Low was fifth with 716 and Winslow placed last with 723 team strokes. The Lobos placed five of their golfers in the top six in individual scores. Kyle Jones was the top medalist, shooting a two-day total 138. Parker McDonald was well back with a 152, good for second place. Tobias Weihe and Jordan Henderson tied for third with 155. Dillon Washburn of Blue Ridge was fifth with 156 and Nick Routhier of Snowflake placed sixth with 157. Michael Peterson posted a two-day total of 174. The state golf meet was being held near Florence at the beginning of this week.
