Bulldogs Take Second At Winslow Invitational MeetMay 13th, 2009
By Sam Conner The Winslow High School boys’ track team placed second in the Winslow Invitational Meet May 1. The Winslow girls were 15th in their meet. Snowflake won the boys’ meet with a score of 148. Winslow was second at 70. Show Low was third a point behind Winslow at 69. Blue Ridge was fourth at 55 and Payson was fifth at 45.5. Blue Ridge won the girls’ meet with a score of 98.5. Flagstaff was second at 92, Mingus was third at 88, Page was fourth at 55 and Snowflake was fifth at 50. Winslow scored 13 points. Stacey Berg had Winslow’s only first place finishes in individual events with wins in the triple jump with a distance of 41’9.75” and the long jump with a distance of 21’7.5”. The 4x400 relay team won that event with a time of 43.53 for Winslow’s other first place finish. Tevin Renfro was second in the triple jump with a distance of 40’5”, in the high jump at 6’4” and in the long jump with a leap of 20’2.75”. Matthew Smith was third in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Trenton Ervien was seventh in the pole vault. Cedric Yazzie was seventh in the 3200 meters. Cassandria Jackson paced the Winslow girls with fifth place finishes in both the shot put and discus. Jodie Mystri finished eighth in the 1600 meters. The girls’ 4x100 meter relay team finished sixth.
