HHS Athletes Compete At State Track And Field Meet

    Blue Ridge won the girls’ team title at the 3A State Track and Field Championships held in Mesa over the weekend, scoring 102 points. Estrella Foothills placed second with 96 and Sedona was third with 64.5. Holbrook placed 19th in the 23-team field with 6 points.
    Blue Ridge also won the boys’ team competition, edging Snowflake by four points. The Yellowjackets scored 78, followed by Snowflake with 74.  Winslow placed third with 64 team points. Holbrook finished in 14th place with 11 team points.
    Olin Jones and Chelsea John were the highest placing individual finishers for the Holbrook Roadrunners.
    Jones’ throw of 132’11” in the discus event earned him a third place overall finish.   
    John’s toss of 35’2.5” in the shot put also gave her a third place finish.  
    April Lester placed 18th in the shot put with a distance of 30’1.5”.  
    Tess McGee competed in three events, placing 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.54, 14th in the 400 meter run with 1:09 and 16th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.06.  
    Holbrook placed 12th in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 11:13.
    Rex Self placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 6’4”, and 13th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.02.
    Ryan Williams was 11th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.93, and 14th in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.31.  
    Allen Rishel placed 15th in the 400 meter run with a time of 54.09 and 19th in the 200 meter dash in of 24.89.  
    Morty Jim placed 14th in the discus with a throw of 108’5” and 16th in the shot put with a distance of 38’0”.
    Holbrook’s 4x400 meter relay team placed 16th with a time of 3:45.
