Jones Leads Lobos To State Golf Title

    The Snowflake Lobos brought home both the team title and the individual title from the 3A State tournament played at the beginning of last week.
     Playing in the two-day, 36-hole event at the Poston Butte Golf Club near Florence, Kyle Jones blew away the field, shooting a six under par 66 on the first day and backing that up with a one over par 73 for a two day total of 139.  Teammate Tobias Weihe placed second, carding a five over 77 on the first day and a one under par 71 on day two for a total of 148. Tyler Mark of Fountain Hills prevented the Lobos from claiming the top four spots as he placed third with a 149.  Lobos Parker McDonald shot a 153 and Jordan Henderson posted a 155. Nick Routhier also played well for Snowflake, carding a 163, placing him 14th in the 86-player field.
    As a team the Lobos easily outdistanced the rest of the field, shooting a total of 595. Second place Payson was way back with a 652. Safford placed third with 657, Fountain Hills had 659 and Sedona rounded out the top five with 673 strokes.
