Wildcats Take Second In 1A State Track Meet

    The Joseph City boys’ team finished the 1A State Track and Field Meet as the state runner up with 109 team points. Tempe Prep won the team title with 137 points. St. Augustine finished in third place in the 20-team field with 60 points.
    The Lady Wildcats placed ninth in the 21-team field with 31 team points. Tempe Prep also won the girls’ title, scoring 115 points.  Valley Lutheran was second with 72 and St. Augustine placed third with 69 points.
    The Wildcats had two individual champions, with Spencer Baldwin winning two events and Cory Thellmann placing first in one.  
    Thellmann’s jump of 6’6” in the high jump won him the state title.  He also placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 38’10”.
    Spencer Baldwin won state in the shot put with a distance of 51’6.25”, and in the discus with a throw of 143’3”.   
    Zack Baldwin was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 41’.05” and Zach Warner was sixth with 39’10.5”.  
    Dallin Baldwin was seventh in the high jump, clearing 5’6”, and Zack Miller was ninth at 5’5”.
    Stephen Solomon placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.29, and third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.72.  
    Dalton Hughes placed seventh in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.08;  Zack Miller, eighth at 45.58; Cory Thellmann, 11th at 46.67; and Justin Parisot, 13th at 47.21.  
    AJ Smith placed fourth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:45, and seventh in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:58.  
    Chance Fish placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06; and AJ Smith, 11th at 2:09.
    Zack Baldwin placed fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.26; and Remington Baldwin, 11th in 12.11.  
    Tracy Poudrier placed ninth in the 400 meter run with a time of 55.59.   
    Eric Aurora placed 10th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:07, and 12th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:19.  
    Dallin Baldwin placed sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.59; and Justin Parisot, ninth in 18.91.
    The Wildcats placed second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.97, first in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:37 and second in the 4x800 meter relay in 8:30.
    Megan Johnstun was the highest individual placer for the Lady Wildcats with a second place finish in the high jump, clearing 4’10”.  She also placed ninth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.29.   
    Natalie Griffith placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37, and fifth in the 400 meter run in 1:05.  
    Linsey Wouters was ninth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 56.01.
    Shelby Fish was ninth in the 200 meter run with a time of 29.45; and Sara Solomon, 18th in 3:32.
    Shelby Fish placed 10th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.32.
    Kaylee Pugh placed 12th in the shot put with a toss of 25’11”, and was 16th in the discus with a throw of 63’10”.  
    Susan Normandin was 21st in the discus with a distance of 55’10”.
    The Lady Wildcats placed second in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 11:06, and third in the 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:03.
