WHS Softball Players Are Slated For Lots Of Summer CompetitionJune 3rd, 2009
By Sam Conner The future Winslow Lady Bulldog softball players are slated to play in a number of tournaments and in a league with 3A East Region teams during the summer. Winslow enjoyed a highly successful 2009 season, winning the 3A North Region and the Winslow Bojo’s/3C’s Tournament, and finishing as runner-up for the state championship. Tournaments were scheduled in Payson on Friday and Saturday, and will be played in Phoenix on June 6 and 7, in Flagstaff on June 20 and 21, on July 11 and 12 in Phoenix again and in Park City, Utah, July 20-25 if the team qualifies. The tournaments are Triple Crown events. In the league games, Winslow will play at Show Low on Thursday, June 4, against Round Valley at 3:30 p.m. and against Show Low at 6:30 p.m. On June 11, the team will play in Snowflake at 3:30 p.m. against Payson and against Snowflake at 6:30 p.m. Winslow will host its first league games on June 18 against Blue Ridge at 3:30 p.m. and against Snowflake at 6:30 p.m. At 5 p.m. Blue Ridge and Snowflake will play. On June 25, Winslow will play at Snowflake against Round Valley at 5 p.m. and against Snowflake at 6:30 p.m. On July 9 at Lakeside, Winslow will play Blue Ridge at 3:30 p.m. and Round Valley at 5 p.m. The last games scheduled are on July 16 at Winslow, with Winslow meeting Round Valley at 3:30 p.m. and Show Low at 5 p.m. Show Low and Round Valley will play at 6:30 p.m. The schedule ends with the date of July 23 and the comment, “See who wants to.” On all of the events mentioned above, there are three games involving the other three teams from the league at a different site than where Winslow is playing.
