Annual Pioneer Day Run Draws 200-Plus Athletes

    A total of 204 runners participated in the 2009 Snowflake Pioneer Day Run held July 18 at the Snowflake Municipal Golf Course. The run categories included a two-mile run or walk, and a 10K run or walk. Each category had a men’s and a women’s division, with awards given for overall winners and age group winners.
   The overall winners in the women’s division of the two-mile event included: Cyndee Nichols, first in a time of 14:22; Misti Solomon, second in 15:20; and Elle Flake, third in 15:39.
   In the men’s division, Nick Stratton placed first in a time of 12:25; Mathew Smith, second in 12:46; and Roger Anderson, third in 13:38.
   First place winners in their respective age categories of the two-mile event were Hannah Landers, Elle Flake, Nikole Decker, Misti Solomon, Cyndee Nichols, Donna Hurstrom, Karen Hargrove, Mindy Hatch, Shannon Hatch, Marla Padilla, Sally Schriber, Josh Brown, Tysen Escher, Blaine Lee, Nick Stratton, Ryan Escher, Lee Decker, Rick Hurstrom, Gunner Caldwell, Lance Hunt and Mark Caldwell.
   The overall winners in the women’s division of the 10K event included: Autumn Gibson, first in a time of 46:02; Amy Schimmel, second in 50:38; and Mary Crookstron, third in 52:26.
   In the men’s division, Brandon Day placed first in a time of 39:41; James Lilly, second in 41:38; and Michael Johnson, third in 41:57.
   First place winners in their respective age categories of the 10K event were Autumn Gibson, Mary Crookston, Buffie McUmber, Amy Schimmel, Lois Waterman, Jesse Washburn, Brandon Day, James Lilly, Chuck Roose, Jerry Roose, and Dennis Waterman.
   Special thanks were offered to the Snowflake Municipal Golf Course for the use of the facility and to all those who helped with the event.
