The Lobos couldn’t have asked for a better beginning to the season as they scored on their first six offensive plays en route to a 64-6 road win at Valley Sanders last Friday night.
“The kids did the right things and we executed well. We did a good job in our passing game with all three quarterbacks completing all of their passes. Our passing attack has been a big focus this summer and it paid off in this game,” said Snowflake Coach Adam Larsen.
Valley put up little resistance early in the game, with Snowflake scoring on a 54-yard Shawn Walker run just 11 seconds into the game. Brad Hudson hauled in a Walker 10-yard touchdown pass and Robbie Martindale’s point after put the Lobos on top 13-0.  Martindale collected a second Walker aerial, a 38-yard strike, with 9:40 left in the opening period.
The defense broke into the scoring column when Trevor Reddick returned a Pirate fumble 17 yards. Jordan Hunt, Ammon McKinlay and Walker each had touchdown runs to finish up the first period scoring with the Lobos on top 47-0.
In the second, Walker added his third scoring run of the night, this one from 11 yards out.  Caden Larson scored on a 27-yard run and Martindale ended the Lobos’ scoring with an impressive 40-yard field goal at the midpoint of the second period.
“I have to give their kids credit. We knocked them down and they would get right back up. They were good kids and they played hard,” added Coach Larsen.
The Lobos ended the night with 477 yards of total offense. Walker led the trio of quarterbacks going three for three for 74 yards and two touchdowns. He was also the leading rusher, gaining 74 yards on three carries, all of which went for scores. McKinlay gained 71 yards on two runs with a score, and Josh Kelley carried the ball nine times for 69 yards. Martindale caught one pass for 38 yards and a score. Colton Reidhead had one catch for 26 yards.
On defense, Brandt Perkins led the team with five tackles.  Derrick Palmer and Nick Alcantar each were credited with four tackles.
