Lady Wildcats Defeat Hopi

    The Joseph City Lady Wildcats headed into the Payson Invitational tournament last weekend on a high note after defeating Hopi in three straight games earlier in the week.  
    Joseph City set the tone early, taking the first game 25-7, and wasn’t really threatened in the second or third games, winning them 25-19 and 25-14.
    Shelby Fish had a big night, leading her team in an all around effort with one kill, seven aces, nine assists and nine digs. Linsey Wouters also played well with three kills, one ace, three blocks, five assists and five defensive digs. Sammi Perry had three kills, an ace and four digs. Natalie Griffith helped with three kills, an ace and three blocks. Jaci Penrod had two kills, served three aces and played solid on defense with 13 digs. Allysa Dixon served one ace and had two blocks. Mackenzie Fields had one kill and four blocks. Tori Mosier hit five kills and had three blocks. Lexi Edwards served an ace, and had one assists and two digs in the win. Kaylee Pugh had one defensive dig.
    Prior to playing in the Payson Tournament the Lady Wildcats had posted a 2-1 record to begin the season. They will host White Cone today (Sept. 9), and are scheduled to play at Ash Fork on Thursday, Sept. 10.
