Brian Weir has taken over the reins of the Snowflake boys’ soccer program, returning to a position he held earlier in his career. He will share head coaching duties with Darwin Rawlins.
This season the Lobos have a balanced team with a solid core of juniors to work with. Seniors on the squad include Jose Garcia, Gus Montejano, Jacob Kelley, and Chad Aldenzee. The large junior class includes Lance Shumway, Jacob Rawlins, Fernando Garcia, Matt Bonham, Patrick Routhier, Bryce Kay, Jaime Rafael, Kyle Lunt and Michael Bonham. Four sophomores round out the team, including Ricardo Montejano, Jaden Gardner, Joseph Bonham and Hunter Peterson.
“We are a young team with a lot of talent and speed. I expect that we will do quite well this season. We will know more after we play a few games,” said Coach Weir.
The Lobos opened their season last week in Holbrook and those results will be in next week’s edition of the newspaper.  Up next for Snowflake will be a match at St. Michaels today (Sept. 9). On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Lobos will host St. Johns, and on Wednesday, Sept. 16, they will host Payson.  The St. Michaels and Payson matches are both conference contests, while the St. Johns match is a non-region contest.
