Roadrunner Boys Look Good At Four Corners Cross Country Meet

    The Holbrook boys’ cross country team posted a very reputable 11th place finish in the 29-team field of the Four Corners Invitational Meet held last Saturday in Flagstaff.
    Flagstaff won the team title with 71 points, followed by Mingus with 88 and Chinle close behind with 89. Ryan Yazzie of Tuba City won the overall race with a time of 15:51.
    Holbrooks runners were paced by Adrian Thomas, who finished 65th in the 187-runner event with a time of 18:32. Jackie Frank was close behind in 67th in 18:35; Melcomh Chee, 72nd in 18:41; Marvin Yazzie, 81st in 19:00; Corey Kanuho, 85th in 19:04; Jimrail Manygoats, 99th in 19:16; and Maurice Joe, 172nd in 21:33.
    In the junior varsity race, Cody Yellowhair placed 55th in a field of 162 runners with a time of 20:41.  Clint Alex was 58th in 20:47 and Phillip Curtis placed 131st in 23:49.
    No Holbrook girls competed in the varsity race, which was won by Rolanda Jumbo from Chinle with a time of 18:57. Chinle also won the team title with 36 points. Flagstaff placed second with 67 and Tuba City finished third with 97 points.
    In the junior varsity race, Andrell Williams paced Holbrook with a 61st place finish, crossing the line in 26:13.  Robin James placed 63rd in a time of 26:27 and Jessica Yazzie was 98th in 28:29.
    After competing in the Snowflake Invitational meet today (Sept. 23), the Roadrunners will run at the Blue Ridge Invitational meet on Saturday, Sept. 26.
