Lady Cats Rack Up Two Wins Over Rock Point Lady CougarsOctober 7th, 2009
By Greg Perkins Joseph City made the long trek to Rock Point a successful one, taking both matches of a volleyball doubleheader, and winning both in three straight games. The Lady Cats won the first match 25-13, 25-19 and 25-13 without really being threatened. In that match Shelby Fish had three kills, three aces, 25 assists and six digs. Alyssa Dixon had two kills, an assist and two digs. Sammi Perry had two kills, three aces, a block and three digs. Tori Mosier had four kills and eight digs. Linsey Wouters had nine kills, an ace, two blocks, two assists and three digs. Kaylee Pugh had two kills and two digs. Lexi Edwards recorded an assist with five digs. Natalie Griffith had six kills, four aces and five digs. Jaci Penrod played solid defense with 14 digs, and Mackenzie Fields ended with four kills, an assist and two digs. The Lady Wildcats won the second match with the Lady Cougars in similar fashion, taking the three games 25-17, 25-21 and 25-20. Fish served two aces, and had a block, 25 assists and 11 digs. Dixon had a kill. Perry had three kills, four blocks and eight digs. Mosier had 14 kills, two blocks, an assist and 12 digs. Wouters tabulated seven kills, an ace, two blocks, an assist and 12 digs. Pugh had a dig. Edwards had an assist. Griffith had three kills and served eight aces to go along with two blocks, an assist and five digs. Penrod had an ace and played great defense with 27 digs. Fields was strong at the net with six blocks. The Lady Wildcats improved to 26-10-1 on the season and moved to 6-0 in region play. They have just one match this week, a home match with Fredonia on Friday, Oct. 9. Following that they will have another week off to prepare for their match against Mogollon at Heber.
