Snowflake Teams Compete In HHS Invitational MeetOctober 28th, 2009
By Greg Perkins Competing at the very large Holbrook Invitational meet last Friday, Snowflake’s Lobos placed 18th in the 20-team field. With 130 runners starting the race, this meet is the final tuneup for most area teams as they prepare for their respective regional meets coming up this weekend. Tuba City won the team title with 66 points, just one ahead of Many Farms with 67. Chinle was third with 78 points. Ryan Yazzie and Billy Orman, both of Tuba City, placed first and second, while Robert Lowe from Many Farms finished in third place. Snowflake was paced by JP Rodriguez, who placed 91st with a time of 20:04. Hannah Runebrand was 93rd in 20:08; Rolley Burton, 94th in 20:14; Latham Hunt, 102nd in 20:33; Joey Cox, 104th in 20:40; Levi Flake, 105th in 20:41; and Forrest Touchstone, 124th in 23:24. In the open division race, Lance Merrell placed 79th among 88 runners with a time of 24:34. Rolando Jumbo of Chinle won the girls’ varsity race with a time of 19:34. Her teammate Charnelle Curley was second in 19:54. Chinle also won the team title with 31 points. Flagstaff placed second with 45 and Page was third with 103. Snowflake didn’t have a team score, with only three runners competing in the 123-runner field. Alisha Flake placed 49th with a time of 23:23; Desirae Burden, 110th in 28:43; and Sarah McCleve, 120th in 31:24.
