Lady Bulldogs Take Fourth At State Cross Country MeetNovember 11th, 2009
By Sam Conner The Winslow girls’ cross country team finished fourth with a score of 119 at the Arizona State 3A Conference Cross Country meet behind Chinle with 34, Sedona Red Rock with 85 and Tuba City with 96. As in golf, the lowest score wins. Window Rock finished fifth behind Winslow with a score of 177. Chinle runners Rolanda Jumbo and Charnelle Curley finished first and second with times of 18:40.988 and 19:55.157. April Tracey of Tuba City was third. Winslow was paced by Gabby Stacey at sixth with a time of 20:47.068. Jodie Mystri was 21st, Rachel Montoya, 23rd, Keisha Whitehair, 27th, Bernice Gover, 44th, and Sandra Alex, 106th. There were 119 runners who finished. Tuba City won the boys’ meet with a low score of 42, followed by Chinle with 55, Ganado with 123, Window Rock with 171 and Holbrook with 197. Winslow did not qualify for a team score. Bobby Orman of Tuba City won the meet in a time of 15:47.359. Other members of the winning team were Dennis Klain, who was seventh, Matthew Murray, 20th, and Jo-el Thomas, 30th. Winslow had three runners finish, Shilyn Singer in 21st, Lakota Shirley, 23rd, and Payton Pete, 71st. There were 125 runners who finished the race.
