Lady Birds Fall To Tuba City In State Volleyball Tourney

    Holbrook’s volleyball team headed to the state tournament with high hopes of a deep play off run, but unfortunately the Lady Roadrunners were matched up against the second best team in the tournament in the opening round. As the 11th seed, Holbrook had to face conference foe Tuba City, which came in as the sixth seed.
    The Lady Warriors have been one of the best teams all season long, and Holbrook had a great season as well. Tuba City set the tone for the match with a 25-18 win in the first game, then took the second, 25-19. In the third game the Lady Birds played better, but still had their season come to a close with a 25-20 loss.
    Tuba City’s Lady Warriors eventually worked their way through the bracket and faced Monument Valley in the title match, where they fell in four games.  Monument Valley won the state title for the second year in a row.
