WHS Bulldogs Cruise By Payson Longhorns, 66-39

    The Winslow Bulldogs opened the 2009-10 basketball season with a convincing 66-39 victory over the Payson Longhorns in a non-regional game played Nov. 24 in Winslow. The Bulldogs were in command after every period and played well on both ends of the court.
    Winslow led 14-7 after the first quarter and held a convincing 31-16 lead at the half. The margin was 46-30 after three quarters and the Bulldogs continued to pull away in the final quarter.
    Dale Dixon was the leading scorer for Winslow with 24 points. Jevon Estelle with 12 points and Tyler Williams with 10 were also in double figures for the Bulldogs. Payson also had three players in double figures, led by Jamie Montebeau and Ever Figuera with 11 each, and Cody Waterman with 10 points.

    The Bulldogs were scheduled to host the Snowflake Lobos on Tuesday, then will host the Cake Chevrolet Shootout Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 3-5.
