Lady Bulldogs Down Ganado, But Fall To Monument Valley

    The Winslow Lady Bulldogs split their two North Region games last week, defeating Ganado 54-48 on Thursday, then losing a heartbreaker to Monument Valley on Saturday, 64-63.
    Winslow’s record fell to 15-4 for the season and 3-2 in the 3A North Region.
    The hosting Monument Valley Lady Mustangs built a 16-10 lead in the first quarter on Saturday and still led 33-28 at the intermission. The lead was cut to two points at 49-47 after three quarters.
    The score was tied in the closing seconds and Winslow had a lead at 63-62 with three seconds left, but Bradley Nash sank a pair of free throws to decide the game just before the final buzzer.
     Nash led all scorers with 28 points for the Lady Mustangs. Nicolette Parish was also in double figures for Monument Valley with 11 points. Chelsea Holiday and Destinee Holiday each tallied 8 points for the victors.
    Kourtney Shirley with 24 points and Felencia Keams with 21 points were in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs. Shernise Ward scored 8 for Winslow.

    The Lady Bulldogs built a 17-7 lead in the first quarter of Thursday’s game at Ganado, but saw that advantage cut to three points with the score at 27-24 at intermission. The lead was 44-38 after three quarters.
    Kourtney Shirley led all scorers with 23 points for Winslow. Ward was also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points.
    Jasmine Taliman paced the Lady Hornets with 20 points. Cory Slim was also in double figures for Ganado with 13 points.

    The Lady Bulldogs were slated to play a regional game at Holbrook on Tuesday, and non-regional games at Valley Sanders on Friday, Jan. 22, and Show Low on Saturday, Jan. 23.
