Wildcats Cruise To Wins Over Northland Prep And Rock Point

The Wildcats pretty much cruised to two region wins last weekend, taking down Northland Prep at home on Friday, then picking up a good road win at Rock Point on Saturday.
Friday’s contest really wasn’t much of a game as the Wildcats controlled things from the outset. They eventually ended up with a 71-45 win.
“Everyone saw playing time, and everyone of our guys played well to help make us 2-0 in our division of the North Region,” said Coach Eric Miller.
Tracy Poudrier put together a nice game with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Braden Hansen added 11 points, Wyatt Bain had 9, and Daniel Bushman helped with 9 points and seven rebounds.
On Saturday the Wildcats picked up a win in a traditionally very tough place to play. Rock Point usually protects its home court well, but this year the Cats have too much talent. Joseph City kept the game close in the first two quarters and held a four-point halftime lead, but in the second half the Cats pulled away to get a 62-41 win.
“It is always a tough place to play, but again we played very well and were able to come home with a big win,” added Coach Miller.
Poudrier played another complete game with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Spencer Baldwin added 17 points and grabbed seven boards. Justin Clifford netted 12 with seven boards, and Zach Miller pulled down four rebounds, handed out seven assists and picked up four steals.
With the two wins the Wildcats improved to 13-7 on the season.  After hosting Mogollon Tuesday night, they will complete the regular season with three straight road trips. On Friday, Jan. 22, they travel to St. Michaels. Saturday they go to White Cone and next Tuesday they wrap things up with a game against Mogollon at Heber.
