Winnie Mae Fontenot

Winnie Mae Fontenot, 90, of Show Low died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Rim Country Health Center in Payson. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock this morning (Feb. 27) in the chapel of Black’s Mor-tuary, with Father Gil Mangampo officiating. Entombment will be at the Palm Mausoleum in Las Vegas, Nev.
    Mrs. Fontenot was born May 24, 1917, at Manitou, Okla., the daughter of Charlie and Alma (Broom) Nichols.  
    She moved to California in her youth and to Las Vegas, Nev., as a young adult.  It was there that she met and married Allen Fontenot.  
    She worked in the gaming industry in Las Vegas for many years.  
    She came to Show Low in 1991.  
    She always enjoyed work and was, otherwise, a homebody.  
    She was of the Catholic faith.
    Survivors include three granddaughters, Lisa Ponder (Josh), Shonna Ponder and Angela Ponder, all of Holbrook;  two sisters, Lou Kentepp and Stella Kohfield, both of California; and three great-grandchildren, John Morgan, Jacqueline Morgan and Ciera Irving, all of Holbrook.  
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Beverly Ponder.
    Black’s Mortuary of Show Low is in charge of the arrangements.
