Seth Norvel Owens

Seth Norvel Owens, 78, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at home in Fountain Green, Utah. Services were held Feb. 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Downtown Building in Show Low. Interment took place in the family plot in the Show Low Cemetery.
    He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Show Low, where he was raised. He graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1947.
    He served in the South Central States mission for the LDS church.
    He married Pearl Bigler on Feb. 26, 1952, in the Mesa Temple.  
    He worked in the lumber industry, as well as farming and ranching.  
    He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, gardening, and raising horses and cattle.  
    He served on the city councils of both Show Low and Fountain Green.   
    He knew no stranger, and made any who entered his home feel like one of his own.
    Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Pearl Bigler Owens; all nine of their children, Norvel (Clarice) of Flagstaff, Loraine (Larry) Brinkerhoff of Snowflake, Alvin (Sherice) of Salina, Utah, Cyndee (Corwin) Larson of Taylor, Judy (Gene) Woolford of Show Low, Connie (Tom) Kakavas of Show Low, TaLea (Paul) Cox of Taylor, Derrin (Heather) of Fountain Green and Monty (Lori) of Farmington, N.M.; 36 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Duane (Doris) of Ojai, Calif., and Moylen (Joy) of Show Low; and two sisters, Lapriel (Ed) Gillespie of Taylor and Renae (Lucky) Theabold of Mesa.
     He was preceded in death by his parents Almon D. and Alta Ellsworth Owens; five brothers, Cecil, Orr, Mervin, Troy and Abner Owens; two sisters Cecilia Perkins and Norma Ellsworth; and three grandchildren, Theresa Horn Bosshardt, Almon Kyle Owens and Keith Norvel Owens.
    Norvel Owens Mortuary of Flagstaff was in charge of the arrangements.
