Albert E. “Al” Johnson, 81, of Show Low, died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. Al was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Vida, Mont., the son of Marius and Minnie (Weisenberg) Johnson. He was raised and attended school in Vida, graduating from high school in 1943. He graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor’s degree, and received a secondary degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Following college, he traveled in Europe while working for American Insurance Company. He returned to the United States in 1962, settling in California, where he worked for the City of San Francisco as tax assessor. He retired in the late 1980s, and lived on his yacht for 20 years in the California delta region. He lived in Sacramento for a time, where he enjoyed skiing, gardening and being a philosopher. He was very much into health and nutrition. He came to Show Low in 2004, where he enjoyed working and developing his property. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Show Low Lodge 2090, and the Na-tional Rifle Association. Survivors include two daughters, Astrid (Beau) Willis of Clarence, N.Y., and Anita (Tony) Correa of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Melvin Johnson of Vida; six grandchildren; and five nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lena Hansen; and two brothers, Henry and John Johnson. No services are planned at this time. Black’s Mortuary of Show Low was in charge of the arrangements.
