Delbert F. Hackert

Delbert Frederick Hackert, 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Lakeside. Services will be planned for a later date.
   Del was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to Fred and Jesse Hackert.
   He was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and very well read individual until the end.
   He was a space enthusiast who met Werner Von Braun while working for Air Research.
   Family was of the most importance in his life.
   Survivors include two daughters, Penny Ann Bixby (Bob) of Lakeside and Pam Ann Schulz of Mesa; three grandchildren, Leslie, Michael and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Carter; and one sister, Janice Butts (Bill) of Florida.
   He was preceded in death by his wife of 60-plus years, Marie; his parents; two brothers, Richard and Will; and his sister, June.
   Owens Mortuary of Show Low was in charge of the arrangements.
