Micky Lee KingApril 18th, 2008
Memorial services for Micky Lee King, 53, who died on Saturday, April 12, 2008, in Buckeye, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Elks Lodge in Holbrook. He was born on Aug. 1, 1954, in Springerville. Micky graduated from Holbrook High School. While in high school, he was active in the Arizona Jun-ior Rodeo Association, and was a great bareback and bull rider. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. After getting out of the Army he returned to Ger-many and worked construction there for several years. After returning to the United States he worked in the oil industry and construction until his health made it impossible for him to work. At that time he re-turned to Holbrook and cared for his mother. Micky was a devoted son, father and brother, and the best friend anyone could have. His yard was the hangout where he and his friends would enjoy his fire pit and just being together. He had just found that he had a talent for writing cowboy poetry, and enjoyed reading it to family and friends. He requested that his ashes be spread on the Jeffers Ranch, where he loved being with Ann and working the cattle. His many friends always made sure that he went on many wonderful fishing and hunting trips. He is going to be missed by the “fish boys” on those trips, but there are a lot of great memories. Survivors include two sons, Tobias Lee and Vincent Leon (Brandy); one daughter, Stefanie King; five grandchildren, Sebastian, Ethan, Ryley, Thomas and Zachary; one brother, Leon (Shirley) King; two sis-ters, Paula Anderson and Sue Norgaard; and his lifelong friend, Ann Jeffers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Edith King, and his son, Marcus. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Micky’s name to the American Arthritis Foundation, 1330 W. Peachtree St., NW, Suite 100, Atlanta, Ga. 30309, or online at www.arthritis.org. Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow is in charge of the arrangements.
