Deborah K. Foreman

May 21st, 2008

Deborah Kaye “Debby” Foreman, 56, died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home in Vernon following a lengthy illness. Private family services will be held.
Debby was born on Sept. 5, 1951, at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois to Donald D. and Juanita Sue (Derickson) Shaffer.
In her younger years, Debby lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked as a licensed nurse practi-tioner. She enjoyed all that Alaska had to offer and thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunt-ing, fishing and camping. While there, Pope John Paul II made a visit to the state and Debby literally camped outside the night before he officiated at a mass so she could be in attendance. She cherished the rosary beads that he personally blessed for her.
Debby moved to Arizona from Alaska about 25 years ago. She was able to continue working in the health care industry as a registered nurse for the Arizona Department of Corrections in Florence.
She married Charles Meredith “Mike” Foreman, III on March 3, 1989, in Phoenix.
In 1998, she had to retire from nursing due to her health. The following year, she and Mike moved to Vernon, where they had since resided.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Mike Foreman of Vernon; two sisters, Rayna Bailey (Pat) of West Cliff, Colo., and Ronnie Hughes of Phoenix; an aunt, Betty Matherley (Gilbert) of Phoenix West Val-ley; a sister-in-law, Betty Exline of Lakeside; several nieces and nephews; and numerous grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Contributions to RTA Hospice and Palliative Care, 1789 W. Commerce Drive, Lakeside, Ariz. 85929, have been suggested by her family.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low was in charge of the arrangements.
