Evelyn Dodds Young Norton, 86, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Layton, Utah. Funeral services were held March 28 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary. Interment was at Lindquist’s Memorial Park in Layton. She was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Hexham, Northumberland, England, to George and Jane Elizabeth Mor-ton Dodds. Evelyn married James Leslie Young on March 16, 1941, in Hexham. He died on Oct. 20, 1964. Following Leslie’s death, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, from England. She also lived in Phoenix and Holbrook, and had lived in Layton for the past 25 years. She married Milton E. Norton in November 1967 in Las Vegas, Nev. Their marriage was later solem-nized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died on March 15, 2002. Evelyn was an active member of the LDS church. She served in all of the church auxiliaries, and espe-cially enjoyed serving in the Relief Society. She also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Y. (Arnold) Monk of Layton; her stepdaughter, Vonda N. Jones of Tucson; her stepson, John M. Norton of Tucson; four grandchildren, Allison, Brooklyn, Kortnee and Dane; and three great-grandchildren, Kellyn, Ireland and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; three brothers, Jackie, Hunter and Robert; and two sisters, Jean and Maggie.
