Mary T. Gallegos

Mary Tafoya Gallegos, 85, died peacefully at her home in Holbrook on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services will be held at 10 o’clock this morning (Aug. 20) at The First Southern Baptist Church, located at 360 First Ave. in Holbrook. Inurnment will be at the Win-slow Cemetery.
    She was born April 28, 1923, in San Fidel, N.M., to the late Frank M. and Isabelita Vallejos Tafoya.
    Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who dearly loved her family and her Lord. She had a strong character, with a positive and encouraging attitude. Mary had a “heart of gold.”
    Survivors include her six children, Ernest Molina of Winslow, Elizabeth Sample of Holbrook, George West of Florida, Pauline Powell of North Carolina, Eleanor Herrera of Tucson and Juan E. Gallegos of Las Cruces, N.M.; four brothers, Florentino Tafoya, Andy Tafoya, Lala Vigil and Mody Trujillo; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    Owens Mortuary of Holbrook is in charge of the arrangements.
