Lorraine Carlson Gladys Lorraine Carlson, 79, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009. Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at the First Christian Church in Winslow. She was born in Brainerd, Minn., on Feb. 6, 1930. Lorraine grew up in Minnesota, and started dating Kenneth Carlson in 1947 when Ken would go to visit her and get his butter pecan ice cream. They were married on Nov. 5, 1948. Lorraine and Ken had their first son, Howard, in 1949, in Minnesota. They moved to Winslow in 1953, where Ken went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. They had their second son, Gary, in 1955 and their third son, Mike, in 1961. Lorraine was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes, flower arrangements and playing the organ. She loved to play cards and shop. She was active in the First Christian Church, Woman’s Club and Mary Marthas. Lorraine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family with all her heart. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is taking long walks in heaven! Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ken; her children, Howard and Annie Carlson of Eagar, Gary Carlson, and Mike and Susie Carlson of Winslow; her grandchildren, Mary Carlson of Winslow, Kenny and Alisa Carlson of Flagstaff, and Alicia and Michael Lopez of Winslow; her great-grandchildren Elyna, J.P. and Payton; her brother, Larry “Bud” (Margaret) Lightner of Prescott Valley; and her sister, Ione (Tom) Malloy of Brainerd. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gladys and Howard Lightner. Norvel Owens Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
