Caryl Holden

    Caryl Bailey Holden, 96, passed away, Thursday, June 18, at his home in Heber.
    He was born on February 23, 1913, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Arthur Caryl and Annie Jean (Fletcher) Holden. He attended Iowa State College, where he met Zilpha Ethleen Davis. They were married on Sept. 13, 1936. They had two sons, David A. Holden and William C. Holden.
    Caryl was employed by the American Can Company in Illinois. In December of 1943, the family moved to Tucson, where he was associated with Consolidated Vutee Aircraft until World War II ended. Following that, he was with English Butane until 1951 and then joined the Hughes Aircraft Missile Division. He retired from Hughes Aircraft in 1972 and moved to Prescott. In 1978 he and his wife moved to Heber, where he has since resided.
    In addition to his sister, Katharine H. Deiley, and parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Zilpha Holden in October of 1998, and his oldest son, David Holden, just 11 days later.
    This quiet, humble and kind gentleman is survived by one son, William C. (Carol Sue) Holden of Heber; 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Buck, Leanna Morris, Deanne Baum, Martin Holden and Maura Holden and 10 great-grandchildren.
    In keeping with his wishes, private family services will be held.
    Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
