Vego Petersen

    Vego Lawrence “Pete” Petersen, 87, of Linden passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Hospice Compassus in Lakeside. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at the High Country Church of Christ, 3201 E. Deuce of Clubs in Show Low. Viewings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 320 N. Ninth Street in Show Low, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
    Vego was born July 29, 1922, in Pinedale to Lawrence and Dorothy Petersen. He attended elementary school in Linden and high school in Snowflake.
    He worked the log woods in Arizona and New Mexico.
    On Dec. 4, 1949, he married Renetta Wanda Daniel.
    He later started his own business, Pete’s Blade and Backhoe Service.
    Vego retired in 1987 and moved from Show Low back to the family homestead in Linden. He enjoyed running heavy equipment, traveling, and going to auctions.
    He was a member of the High Country Church of Christ.
    Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wanda Petersen; three daughters, Deleth “Dee” (Kay) Perkins of Linden, Beverly (Jeff) Balk of Show Low and Holly (Marion) Hatch of Taylor; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Darwin (Bobbie) Petersen of Payson.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Mountain Hospice Foundation, 1789 W. Commerce, Lakeside, Ariz. 85929.
