Juan Jose Garcia

    Juan Jose Garcia, 75, of Snowflake passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, in Mesa. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Our Lady of The Snow Catholic Church, 1655 S. Main St. in Snowflake. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at the church. Interment will follow in the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
    Juan was born May 7, 1934, in St. Johns to Ramon M. and Magdalena (Marques) Garcia. He attended school in Standard, Holbrook and Snowflake.
    At the age of 17, Juan enlisted in the military. After a tour with the Marine Corps he joined the Army and was discharged at Fort Dix, N.J., where he found a new home. He went to work at for GM in Trenton, N.J., where he retired after 30 years. While working for GM he joined the Navy Reserves and then joined the Air Force Reserves, where he retired at the age of 65.
    He was happy to see so many of his classmates when he came to his 50-year high school class reunion.
    He moved back to Snowflake in December 2008.
    He was a member of Holbrook American Legion Post No. 37, the VA in Philadelphia, Pa., and an honorary member in Casa Grande, as well as a member of the Marine Corps League.
    Survivors include one brother, David Garcia; three sisters, Gloria (Bill) Hargett, Delfina (Bob) Mercer and Ernestina (Ranona) Garcia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
    Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake is in charge of the arrangements.
