Shirley Waldene Gann, 60, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at her home in St. Johns following a long illness. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 o’clock this morning (Sept. 16) at the Lakeside Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery. She was born May 27, 1949, at Show Low, the daughter of Wallace and Fern (Penrod) Johnson. She was raised and attended school at Lakeside, graduating from Lakeside High School in 1967. She attended cosmetology school in San Diego. She was married to Mike Malone in 1965 and to Roger Andrews in 1969. She was married to Charles Gann on Jan. 14, 1984, in Las Vegas. She enjoyed gardening and crafts. She was a member of the Meadows Ward of the LDS church in St. Johns. Survivors include her husband, Charlie, of the home; two daughters, Shellina Smith of Lakeside and Roxanne Andrews of St. Johns; two stepdaughters, LaTecia Klink and her husband, Mark, of Mohawk, N.Y., and Deon Gann of Animas, N.M.; four sisters, Celia Parkinson of Lakeside, Janet Smelser of Lakeside, Connie Smith of Thatcher and Rhonda Kiepke of Washington; three brothers, Joe Mettie and Louis Mettie, both of Lakeside, and Randy Johnson of Holbrook; eight grandchildren, Cassie, Jamie, Callie, Shelby, Chrystal, Casey, Brent and Gene; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Summer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Shawn Malone; and two sisters, Jerrie Penrod and Marie Duke. Black’s Mortuary of Show Low is in charge of the arrangements.
