‘Jeannie’ Peterson

    Vera Emogene “Jeannie” Peterson, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at her home in Snowflake. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock this morning (Oct. 16) at the Snowflake Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a visitation one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
    Jeannie was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Moncks Corner, S.C., to the late Robert and Marie (Wyndham) Morris. She was one of 13 children.
    Jeannie’s family lived in South Carolina until she reached the age of 17, at which time she helped the family move to Queen Creek. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dale Peterson, and they were married June 4, 1954, in the Mesa Temple of the LDS church. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage.
    She was a lifelong member of the LDS church, serving in various callings. She loved music, and was very talented at both the piano and singing.
    Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were joys to her life.
    Survivors include her loving husband, Dale Peterson of Snowflake; four daughters, Lorri (Scott) Davis and Tanya (Kent) Frei, both of Snowflake, Deneil Gardner of Cottonwood and DonEtta Peterson of Snowflake; two sons, Kipp (Shug) Peterson and Kevin (Traci) Peterson, both of Snowflake; 34 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, LaReece Morris of Gilbert; five brothers, Bubba (Anita) Morris of Mesa, Ozzie (Nancy) Morris of South Carolina, John (Sue) Morris of Queen Creek, Jimmy (Sherry) Morris of Mesa and Wendell (Charlene) Morris of Mesa; five sisters, Luneil (Jim) Johnson of Queen Creek, Elnora (Stanley) Wimmer of Mesa, Daisy (Vern) Orr of Mesa, Sandra Carter of Snowflake and Linda (Ron) Larson of Logan, Utah; as well as many extended family members and friends.
    She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kade Frei; two brothers, Tinky and Olie Morris; and two sisters-in-laws, Renee and Joann.
    Owens Livingston Mortuary-Heritage Chapel of Snowflake was in charge of the arrangements.
