Vera Porter Bigler

    Vera Porter Bigler, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at her home in Heber. Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at the Heber Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Interment was at the Heber Cemetery.
    She was born April 29, 1923, in Heber to James and Alice Porter.
    In 1940, Vera married Laureld Arthur Bigler in the Mesa Temple of the LDS church.   
    During her life, she lived in both Heber and Snowflake.  
    She loved playing the piano and organ, writing music, teaching music, quilting, crocheting, sewing and many outdoor activities.  She was a super mom at home.  
    Vera was a lifelong member of the LDS church.  She served in the church in many capacities, including president of the Relief Society and Primary organizations. Being called to play the organ in the Snowflake Temple had great meaning and was very special to her.
    Survivors include four sons, Laureld C. (Penny) Bigler of Idaho, Arthur L. (Jill) Bigler of Taylor, William L. (Deborah Sue) Bigler of Gilbert and Keith Earl (Donna Lanette) Bigler of Heber; three daughters, Laura B. (W. Jess) Clifford of Colorado, Elise B. (Bobbie Dean Jr.) Albritton of Tucson and Marvel B. Dorman of Gilbert; 49 grandchildren; 119 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, James Wayne Porter of Heber; and three sisters Rose Reidhead of Utah, Mable Despain of Heber and Leslie Whitmer of Utah.
    She was preceded in death by three sons Sterling Greg Bigler on Nov. 30, 1995, Derric Nolan Bigler on Aug. 28, 1951, and Eric Lee Bigler on Sept. 4, 1951.
    Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
