Aleen Hatch Scorse, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at her home in Holbrook, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Woodruff Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Following the services, interment will be at the Woodruff Cemetery. Aleen was born June 8, 1922, to Albert and Zina Brinkerhoff Hatch. She was raised in Woodruff, and was a long time resident of Holbrook. She worked for the Holbrook Unified School District from 1970 to 1991 as a library and classroom aide, including an aide for special needs students and a bus driver to the Petrified Forest. Aleen was a member of the LDS church, serving a temple mission in Chicago, Ill., at age 70. Throughout her life she served in many church positions, including that of ward organist. An avid gardener, successful at home canning, Aleen’s talents were many. Survivors include her six children, Jerald (Shirley Ann), Ronald (Pamela), Denise (Ken) Huish, Debra (Jamie) Chapman, Arlen (Neena) and Gary; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston C. Scorse; her parents; two sisters, Ila Lloyd and Inez Gardner; and eight brothers, Lornezo, Gerald, Leonard, Dell, Clair, Frank, Laurice and Stan. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook is in charge of the arrangements.
