Officials Meet To Discuss Winslow Levee

Navajo County Public Works Director Homero Vela, Colonel Thomas Magness of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Navajo County Supervisor J.R. DeSpain discuss potential funding sources for repair work for the Winslow levee. They and other area officials met at the levee last week to discuss progress so far, as well as the next steps in the process. In short, future progress depends on federal funding. Magness also toured the levee, viewing areas where past damage has occurred and vulnerable areas where the river has changed course, heading directly for the side of the levee.
