HHS Construction Class Gets Hands-On Experience

Students in the Holbrook High School construction class are getting some hands-on experience constructing a building that will house restrooms, a storage facility and a concessions stand to go with the new soccer field that will be created adjacent to Park Elementary School on Seventh Street in Holbrook. The project is funded by a $50,000 grant offered through Navajo County. The funds will be used to purchase materials and supplies, while the students will do all the work from pouring the concrete slab to the electrical, plumbing and roofing. Here Adrian Tubbs (right) instructs Bryce Wood on the use of surveying equipment. Also learning how to use the equipment are Jessica Redbird, who is holding the level rod, and Sheldon Bedonie. Altogether, there will be approximately 65 students working on the project, which is expected to be finished in the spring.
